After a winless inaugural year, the Sydney Swans women’s team had bolstered its ranks with new recruits headlined by new co-captains Chloe Molloy and Lucy McEvoy. In Round 1 of the 2023 AFLW season the red and white came up against cross-town rivals GWS Giants. A late surge in the second half of the game saw the Sydney Swans triumph with their first ever win, 7.9 (51) to 7.4 (46) sparking emotional scenes as Cheer, Cheer rang out across North Sydney Oval.
